BBI's identity is rooted in their mission to give the community of coastal North Carolinians a place to join together in a common musical interest as both listeners and musicians
To reflect this I incorporated multiple coastal motifs into their branding, from iconography to colors
The open B of of the main logo invokes the framework of a brass instrument which, along with the treble clef, gives clear indication of the group's purpose
The lines trailing from the clef are meant to double as both a musical staff and an ocean wave pattern, showing that both the musical and coastal aspects are equally important to the group's identity
The color scheme for BBI is stark and bold, coming from the colors traditionally used in nautical flags used for sending messages from ship to ship
These flags are common images seen among the coastal community, so I incorporated them into the branding to give the group a recognizable and local feel
